HEATH BRAXTON Played by Dan Ewing
Mad, bad and dangerous to know, Heath Braxton is easily the most volatile of the River Boys. Feared by police, Mangrove River residents, and most of the River Boys themselves, Heath has a short fuse, foul temper, and powerful left hook. He rarely thinks things through and is always getting in trouble, whether it’s with the cops, other surfers, or rival gang members. It’s only due to the intervention and guidance of his older brother Daryl - the only person Heath ever listens to – that he’s managed to stay out of gaol.
More so than either of his brothers, Heath is a River Boy through and through. He loves the camaraderie and sense of family, not to mention the respect that comes with being a member. It’s a privilege to be a River Boy and the worst thing anyone could do ever do is be one and then betray the group. Heath has a strong "us and them" mentality when it comes to the River Boys. As he sees it, they’re always being blamed for things by other people - the cops, other gangs, do-gooders. That’s why the River Boys need to stick together. That’s why they can never back down or give up any of their turf. And Heath never does.
When Heath was ten his father, Sean, dumped his mother, Cheryl, for her best friend. Cheryl loves Heath extravagantly, but has a volatile relationship with him and they’re always arguing about something. Still, Heath and Cheryl get along better than Cheryl and Casey. Indeed, Heath doesn’t know what to make of Casey. The kid seems weird to him, always having his nose in a book, never wanting to do anything fun. Still, he’s a Braxton and a River Boy, and for Heath there’s no stronger bond…
Heath has shown a softer side after the birth of his and Bianca's son Rocco.
